What is an annual?
Annuals are plants that grow, flower and set seed in one growing season. These plants die over the winter and must be replaced each year. Examples of these are petunia, impatiens, & marigolds.
What is a perennial?
Perennials are plants that live more than a year - as mother nature allows. Examples are daylilies, peony, & iris.
Definition of sun tolerance
Full Sun = 6-8 hours of direct sun every day during the hottest parts of the day.
Part Sun = 4-6 hours of sun but avoiding the hottest part of the day between 1-3 pm.
Part Shade = 4 hours or less
Shade = no direct sun - dappled.
